Parakeet Found in a Busy Intersection

Meet Lucky a parakeet we found on a busy Florida road. Lucky got his name because he’s lucky alright! He had seven cars yes, seven drive right over him and all of them missed hitting him! We were able to safely block off the lane and grab him. While doing so we expected for him to have injuries but with a quick look in the truck he seemed to be ok.

About an hour after finding him we were able to buy and setup a temporary enclosure for him with food, water and a couple perches. The second the food was put in he began eating, meaning to us he definitely was out by himself for a bit.

Moment Lucky was given food after being found.

The following day he was taken to a vet who deals with birds and being lucky, he was perfectly fine, a bit underweight but as expected since he was found outside. The doctor estimated about three days at least without food and once we setup a diet he should be fine.

Next day after finding Lucky

Unfortunately, we were unable to locate his owner after multiple attempts with online posts. In this case instead of trying to find him a new home and creating anymore shock, we decided to keep him giving him the practical name of Lucky!
