A bird flew into my window. What should I do?
Do not feed or offer water to a bird that has hit a window. If there is viable blood, a body is broken or looks limp, it does not show any signs of slowing recovering after 10 minutes, contact a local animal rescue that specializes in birds.
South Florida Wildlife Center (954) 524-4302 https://www.southfloridawildlifecenter.org/
If the bird is in a safe place and does not show any of the sings listed above, you can leave it there and monitor its recovery.
If there are other animals or risks of other animals nearby, if it is not in a safe place such as a road or active sidewalk, or there are children around, carefully place the bird in a shoebox. Place the shoebox in a quiet place and monitor its recovery.
Once fully recovered and showing no signs of injuries, release it back where you found it, (very active and vocal after one hour). If not fully recovered after an hour, contact a local animal rescue that specializes in birds.
